New Music: The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart

The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart have been buzzing bright for a while now and I never took the time to turn the lights on…until now.  I’m beginning to see where the hype is stemming from with this band.  The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart are a band overflowing with blissful noise pop or noiseful bliss pop…or popful noise bliss…and it takes me back to that early 90s sound I enjoy so much.  From the sparklingly fuzzy first notes of “Contender” to the busting back beat of “A Teenager In Love” I knew I was listening to something special.  Slumberland is releasing their self titled album on February 3rd and take it from me…you might want to pick it up.

  • Is Teenager in Love an old 80’s cover? (I’m not talking the 50’s song) The music sounds Bowie. Or is it just a new song with the feel of old? Great song.

  • The Pains come to Baltimore on March 14th at the Talking Head Club with yours truly!! This is our first show back with founding drummer, Matt Davis, huzzahh!!
