Canadian Invasion

Somehow amongst all of the hoopla surrounding the rising success of Canada’s indie music acts, Canadian Invasion were left out.  Oh wait…now I see.  Perhaps it’s because they actually hail from Philadelphia and call themselves Canadian Invasion because it refers to their frontman’s last name (Andy Canadian) and echoes their mission that “our songs are a satirical assault on American ‘values’.  We call ourselves ‘America’s last line of defense against the evil Canadian socialist empire’s pernicious ideology of cheap health care and gun control’”

So with all that being said, Canadian Invasion also play some darn good ol’ rock and or roll of the independent variety.  Poppy guitars and intelligent lyricism in the same light as R.E.M. and Wilco but….younger.  They have a new album coming out on February 17th called Three Cheers for the Invisible Hand.  It’s full of social commentary touching on the absurdity of life in suburban America, but also some darn good catchy hooks.
