New York’s Amazing Baby first tugged my ears when they opened for MGMT a ways back. They sent over a few demos (that were sweet), but somehow I never posted on them (A TRAVESTY!). Well they have since released an album, Rewild, which you can stream here. It’s pretty dope. Even more recently they recorded a new single “Supreme Being” with Dave Sardy (LCD Soundsystem, Oasis) for Green Label Sound. This was actually one of my favorite demos that they sent way back when, and I was bummed it didn’t make the album. Apparently this one just needed a little more tender love and care. The new version has a more impressive beat and obviously a higher level of production. Take a listen to both versions here:
School Of Seven Bells and their truly stunning album Alpinisms is getting the deluxe treatment when Vagrant Records is reissuing it on October 13th with nine extra tracks (which are some remixes, live cuts, and demos). To help push this little endeavor the band was nice enough to make an alternate version of “Iamundernodisguise” available for free. This take is a much more subdued than the original. Take a listen:
Who out there loves Detroit’s Deastro? I do. Not only was Moondagger, his album released earlier this year via Ghostly, the shiz, but he keeps on pumping out new music…and giving it away for the world to enjoy. Just last week via his blog Deastro put out the free digital EP Dead Kids. It’s bubbling with the electronic soundscapes that I’ve come to hold dear. Largely instrumental and mostly great! Get it here.
Miike Snow, the creators of one of this years most ridiculously catchy singles “Animal” (It’s still stuck in my head!!!), have gone out and released a new video for the less catchy track “Black & Blue”. It’s an interesting watch for sure, going over the idea of the aging one man band. Check it (plus a remix):
Hey kind folks! Just found out that Pasta Primavera has been nominated for a Mobbie Award in the category of Music and Nightlife. I’ve never been up for any kind of award so I’m happy I’m even being considered. It would mean a ton for all Pasta’s faithful readers to head on over and vote for me (you can vote once a day). Thanks!
After waves of gritty synth pop EPs and singles Australia’s Midnight Juggernauts finally blessed us with their debut album Dystopia in 2007 (though I didn’t catch it until later). Now they’ve moved on and set their sights on a new album. They recently hit everyone off with a more aggressive new digital single “This New Technology”. This release coincides with a (very) brief US tour in which they’ll be previewing much of the new stuff for this 2010 slated album. Pre-order the physical single via Acephale Records here. Listen to it here:
YES! Fall is here and winter must be coming soon because Glasvegas, a band whose music seems to just settle in with the dark and cold, is blasting through my ears right now. What’s the occasion? Well they’ve released a new video for the track “It’s My Own Cheating Heart That Makes Me Cry”. Check it:
Perhaps one of my favorite songs of the summer, Fool’s Gold’s “Surprise Hotel”, has finally received an official video. This video made me smile big. Some elderly gents seem to have cracked open a few too many Pepsis and are whoopin’ it up with the band on a hot afternoon in L.A.. Check it:
Also take a look at my rave review of Fool’s Gold’s S/T album here. It comes out on September 29th via IAMSOUND.
