“I’ve Seen Enough” is probably my favorite tracks off of Cold War Kids most recent album Loyalty To Loyalty released last year. So it’s nice to see it get the video treatment. The visual style goes in accordance with the entire album’s style so far – black and white imagery paired with the occasional bold type-faced word. “I’ve Seen Enough” is a fast paced cut up collection of video from the band on tour and recording. It’s directed by Vern Moen. Check it (video after the jump):

As I might have mentioned in the past I’ve been a fan of Harlem Shakes for a while now. The great Sixeyes blog posted some rough demos before their EP Burning Birthdays was released and I fell in love with the tracks. Then there was a lull, but lucky for the world guitarist/singer Todd Goldstein put his heart into his solo effort Arms. Now Harlem Shakes are back from their travels and schools with a new album due out on March 24th called Technicolor Health and it sounds pretty promising. They got together with Chris Zane (Les Savy Fav, The Walkmen, Passion Pit, White Rabbits) and set off to record this thing and it looks like they’ve expanded their sound quite a bit from the EP. The first single “Strictly Game” shows their exploration off instantly with a blustering electro fuzzy bass then flows into a masterful song featuring the whole band harmonizing and a successful marriage of electronic elements and their tight indie rock sound. Another interesting note on the album is “Sunlight” which is a completely redone version of an early demo song I knew to be “A Night”. That was my favorite Shakes song from the past and this version is kick ass. Harlem Shakes are currently on the mega-super-sweet tour with Born Ruffians and Tokyo Police Club – check their myspace for the dates.

Time to celebrate the last day of February!!! Here’s my suggestions…DC9 in DC is having their 5 Year Anniversary party and are featuring performances from Jukebox The Ghost and J-Roddy Walston and The Business. Should be dynamite! Also in DC are Benjy Ferree, Tim Fite, and Laughing Man. They play the Black Cat. The Velvet Lounge has a good one with Deleted Scenes, Batata Doce (ex Rock*A*Teens), and Mittenfields while Dan Aurebach takes down the 9:30 Club. Hacienda and Those Darlins open for him. Up in Philly classic hip hop is in town with the Black Sheep at the Khyber. Zilla Rocca opens. Finally don’t forget that Thievery Corporation play the Electric Factory and Tapes ‘n Tapes, Wild Light and The Subjects continue their tour through the area making a stop at Johnny Brenda’s. Enjoy!

Not to be confused with Feist’s “1234″ Canada’s rap, funk, jazz compiler K-Os is back with a new video for “4-3-2-1″ off of the upcoming Yes! out on March 31st. This track is classic K-Os and the video is a nice night in the mall filled with stop motion dancing, Mortal Kombat style fighting, and of course, hockey. K-Os hasn’t put out a bad album yet, so expect this one to shine as well. Check the video (after the jump) and track:

It’s almost March and you know what that means…the madness…but until then I’ve been a enjoying a slew of good college basketball games, a slew of good music (so many grand albums are coming into Pasta Primavera, I can’t keep up – i guess that’s a good problem to have), and a slew of good pastries left over from a recent party (Fenwick Bakery is the best!!). Isn’t that all one needs in life – music, sports, and sweets? Well love and family are important too…

There was a few years in my storied past where I was lucky enough to drive a large refrigerated truck everyday for a living. This amazing vehicle was equipped with the pinnacle of car audio achievement – an am/fm radio that could only pick up 4 stations – 3 of which were am talk radio. So I was left with 104.3 The Bay – a classic rock station that became dear to my heart. LA’s Music Go Music could easily meld in with that station’s playlist. Stevie Nicks, Blondie, Heart, Pat Benatar, are all names I hear when cranking Music Go Music. They’ve just released their third 12″ (the final in a series of three) on Secretly Canadian and the title track “Warm In The Shadows” sucks you into a deep disco wormhole that thumps on and on…through the day…and into the night. Take some time with this one…

So the weekend is finally almost upon us and the concert gods have given us a lot to be thankful for. Tonight in Baltimore the Talking Head has the Expontentials, The Izzy’s, and The Jagged Hearts while the trip hoppers Thievery Corporation play Rams Head Live. Down in DC the Rock and Roll Hotel has a good one with Tapes ‘n Tapes, Wild Light, and The Subjects. Also in DC are the Howlies, Tiger and the Snow, and Excuses (ex Len Bias) who play the Velvet Lounge and the funk master himself George Clinton who plays the 9:30 Club. Philly has some sweet ones as well with Deer Tick and Jason Isbell and The 400 Unit at World Cafe Live and Ben Kweller and The Watson Twins at the Fillmore at the TLA. Enjoy!

I’m not sure how much quality music comes out of Alaska, but Olga Bell part of (the now three piece) BELL is definitely what I would quantify as quality. 2008 they released EP with some pretty high praise from the usual cats and I’m definitely supporting that (albeit late). Now they’ve got a new single out, “Magic Tape” and it’s going crazy in my head – bouncing along the walls and such. It’s like Bjork met up with Telepathe and decided to bury themselves in club hip hop beats. Jagged, angular, bass booming, intense beauty that drifts away from normalcy just enough to captivate. BELL will be swinging down to SXSW and later rolling into DC (Rock and Roll Hotel on April 25th) and Philly (First Unitarian Church on April 26th) with Bowerbirds. Write that down on your calendar while you listen to the single (more dates after the jump).
