Tomorrow Yeasayer is set to release the long awaited follow up to All Hour Cymbals with their new one Odd Blood. Recently they put out “O.N.E.”, the second single from the album. I’m digging okay, but not as much as the first single “Ambling Alp”. XXXchange took their chances with a remix of “O.N.E.” whilst my boy Alan Wilkis kicks it up a notch with his version of “Ambling Alp”. Take a listen:

It’s Thursday and I’m tired. It’s been a long week of moving and what I’m really in the mood for is RE-LAX-A-TION. When I get off work I’ve got some time reserved to just sit and space out a bit. Two tracks that will easily fit my mood will be Body Language’s remix of Toro Y Moi’s “Timed Pleasure” and CRACKS‘ remix of Atlas Sound’s “Sheila”. Atmospheric…psychedelic…and a good beat (so I don’t fall out). Try them on for yourself:

Is there a better way to kick off this crazy week than with some downright slick remixes from the always on point/always mysterious Memory Tapes? I think not. They recently dropped a super swell remix of True Panther’s Tanlines as well as jumped on the Phoenix remix bandwagon (a little late) with a remake of “1901″. Check them:

I need something fun. I’ve got just the thing! Tom Caruana’s Wu Tang Vs. The Beatles album, Enter The Magical Mystery Chambers, where he blends the two. Yeah this has been done quite a few times, none topping Dangermouse’s Grey Album masterpiece. Still this album has its moments and its just the right amount of fun that I need to wind into the weekend. Get the full thing here (for free!). Meanwhile check out a few of my favorites from it:

Thanks to Kanye for cluing me in on this.
The Antlers and their stunning album Hospice has garnered praise from just about everyone (including me) for creating a heartfelt and honest album. As you can imagine I was nervous when retro disco house DJs Buffetlibre dropped their official remix of the amazing track “Two”. Usually this match up would fail nine times out of ten, but the crew of Buffetlibre nail it (IMO). Check it:

Brooklyn band Bear Hands is about to release a new single “What A Drag” in February, but you can download it free via their website for the next month. They bring back the same energetic rocknroll sound some how creating a heavenly blend of Modest Mouse and The Pixies whilst bringing in some new found synths to spice it all up. “What A Drag” has me even more pumped about this band. I’m still wondering where the album’s at though…
Also another favorite of mine, Cale Parks, remixed the track blasting away the guitars with melodic keyboards…listen:

I feel bad. Somehow I left The Horrors‘ Primary Colours off my best of 2009 list. It was that good, and I feel terrible for the omission. Ah well… as my tribute to them I’ve decided to dedicate this post to them and the fine job they’re doing with these latest remixes. Beautiful hazy emotional landscapes – that’s what The Horrors create – in their own music and with their remixes. Check them:
