Next week on August 4th Cale Parks, drummer for White Williams and Aloha, will release his third solo work, the EP To Swift Mars via Polyvinyl. Parks picks up right where he left off from last years Sparklace continuing to produce lavish well written songs fused with out of the ordinary drum arrangements and a host of obscure sounds flying around them. However on To Swift Mars Cale Parks has shifted to a smoother more melodic wall of sound method for his compositions. With Sparklace the drums were always in front and dominating the sounds with angular, sharp tones (similar to those of White Williams). On To Swift Mars Parks lets the other parts of the song simmer to the top and recall a close resemblance to the earlier work of Peter Gabriel and the like.
On August 19th Cale Parks and Lemonade take their tour to the Talking Head here in Baltimore and we happen to have a pair of tickets to give away. Email us, tweet us (DM please), or comment on this post to enter. The winner will be chosen by next Friday so get in on it!
